Photography
Much of my spare time is spent practicing the art of photography. You can browse some of my work below. Also available here are links to digital photo editing resources with the Gimp.
General Galleries
- Flickr - This is where I upload a lot of day-to-day stuff. This is updated far more frequently than anything else here.
- Local gallery - Authentication required. I mainly put stuff for family and friends up here (consequently, if you fall under these categories and don't have an account, let me know and I can make you one).
Gimp Resources
The Gimp is an excellent open source image editor akin to Photoshop. Some people complain that the Gimp's interface is "not intuitive," but I think this argument simply arises out of people's familiarity with Photoshop's interface. (I have difficulty finding things in Photoshop's menus, so there really is no such thing as an "intuitive" interface.) Of course, like any complex piece of software, there is a rather high learning curve in order to become truly proficient with the Gimp. Below are links to various tutorials to help you along the way:
- Tutorials at gimp.org
- GIMPguru.org - Note that these tutorials are a little out of date as far as where in the menus some things are located, but otherwise are still very relevant.
